When the PR gurus at The Guardian newspaper were putting together their VIP guest list for their own farmyard gig at Glastonbury, our fibreglass animal models were right up there chilling out amongst those A-List celebs.
An eclectic mix of around 30 bands were quizzed by the hacks, to find out what they knew about country life - if anything. And soon, it was discovered that James Blunt likes sheepdogs, White Denim know plenty about growing perennials, and New York rockers Vampire Weekend had witnessed llamas guarding sheep in the prairies of America.
Ed Harcourt entered the fray, and was found to be messing about with our piglet in an attempt to re-enact the Tori Amos album cover.
Meanwhile, our fibreglass milking cow was attracting the attention of
drastic fantastic artist ; KT Tunstall,
who, having worked in an ice cream parlour in St Andrews; said she
knew her way around the working end of a cow - whether real or plastic.
Singer-songwriter Emmy the Great entertained with some interesting sheep
facts. She reckoned that she`d heard on Radio 4 about a breed of
self-shearing sheep who rub themselves on the ground and the wool comes
off. We had to ask her if she had heard this broadcast around the start of April.
Jared from chart toppers The Kings of Leon, confessed to enjoying the company of chickens, while his cousin Matthew ,who plays lead guitar in the band, preferred pigs.
Indie band the Cribs who hail from Yorkshire were keen to milk the cow, but unfortunately their efforts were in vain, as this lady had not been converted.
While the Shakin` Stevens and the Fabulous Penetrators were fielding questions, someone decided that mother pig should be signed. This started a trend, culminating in a life size pig completely covered in rock stars autographs which includes five artists with number one hit singles...Beats a framed football shirt - eh ?
