WORLD DAIRY EXPO based at Dane County Coliseum, Madison WI. took delivery of two cows "Daisy" & "Fleur" to assist in promotional activities. As the 2004 Expo theme was "Breeds in Bloom", one of their main tasks was to appear in the main ring.

Prior to the event, Daisy can be seen checking into her hotel room @ Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza on her way to the coliseum, while Fleur feeling peckish, is pictured studying the (strictly vegetarian) menu outside the hotel`s restaurant...

'PENNY THE MILKING COW'

The annual Pennsylvania Farm Show was held at the Harrisburg Complex on Jan 10-17 2004. A small herd of Art Animals` cows in attendance included a fully functional milking version called Penny

Situated on the Department of Agriculture Stand, Penny was an unqualified success, as a continual queue of kids (big & small) waited their turn to milk her.

"Kids were fascinated by Penny the Milking Cow," said Bob Strathie (Penny`s herdsman) " it`s real purpose is to give kids an idea of what a real cow is like without the risks.

It was surprising just how many of the parents who previously milked by hand taught ther children how to milk - and milk properly."

Penny the Milking Cow will now be used in educational programmes by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

'PLASTIC COW AUCTION'

The Cattle Exchange hosted their holiday dairy auction sale at Intercourse PA on Friday 20th December 2003. The big white barn just outside town was the venue for an exciting and fun time following a last minute addition to the catalogue.

"These cows are definitely something new and something different, and we think will really appeal to everyone" enthused the ever popular auctioneer Dave Rama."When we heard about these cows we just had to have one in the sale - I`ve christened her Merry - not for Xmas but because she`s a beauty just like my wife" joked Dave. "Just imagine the impact she could have on your business ...."

'THE ALL AMERICAN DAIRY SHOW'

Art Animals were successfully launched at 'The All American Dairy Show', held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg during September 2003.

Although Hurricane Isabel delayed their arrival somewhat, the animals received an extremely enthusiastic welcome from visitors to the show as well as from the Department of Agriculture.

Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary, Hon Dennis C Wolff commented "These cows closely resemble the breeds they are painted to represent.

The interesting thing about the cows is that they can be equipped to enable children to milk them. This creates an excellent educational opportunity for children who would not otherwise be exposed to agriculture in this way.
