Origins of the Shetland Pony – Scalloway Museum, Shetland Islands
Scalloway is the ancient capital of Shetland. The Scalloway Museum is housed in a former knitwear factory which has been completely refurbished to provide a modern Museum facility. The attraction was officially opened by Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Norway on 17th May 2012.
Within the museum is a children`s area which features a model Shetland pony, viking longship and castle. This area contains information in relation to local folklore and dialect – and is fun for the young and old alike. The origins of the Shetland Pony are explained here in great detail on information boards attached to the walls. We are proud to supply the Shetland Pony Model which provides visitors with an accurate depiction of what a real Shetland Pony looks like in terms of scale and confirmation.
