Bespoke Life Size Highland Cow Model
Over the years, we have been asked many times if we would supply a Life Size Standing Highland Cow model. This would compliment the Life Size Highland Cow Bench which we designed a number of years ago. The life size fibreglass Standing Highland Cow model would be ideal for marketing, promotional and educational purposes.
So in order to ensure accuracy in producing the ideal Highland Standing Cow Model and maintain standards ; we sought sound advice from the Highland Cattle Society. And with their assistance, extensive research into the attributes of the ideal Highland Cow followed.

Highland Design
Arguably of all the bovine breeds, the Highlander has the grandest and most picturesque head. Artists and photographers would most certainly agree with this sentiment
It is most proportionate to the body of the animal, is broad between the eyes, while short from the eyes to the point of the muzzle. The forelock between the eyes should be wide, long and bushy. And the muzzle should be short but very broad in front, with the nostrils fully distended to show breeding.

Alongside the head; another of the most noteworthy features in a Highlander is of course, the horns. The horns of a Highlander give the animal a stamp of nobility which will always attract

Bull Fighting
After carefully considering the size of the Highlander`s horns and their sweeping shape we decided that they should be detachable. This makes life easier when transporting the model; and eliminates any chance of damage to the horns. Tailored inserts fitted into the head of the Highland model make it easy to securely fit the horns.
Highlander Made to Measure
To ensure accuracy in these details, real Highland cattle with these key attributes were sought out. While quietly handling these magnificient beasts with the calm assistance of their owners ; a variety of measurements were taken. These were subsequently used to produce a Highland sculpture.

Hairy Cow
Another distinct feature is the thick profusion of hair which should be long and gracefully waved. So we had to make sure that the texture on the coat of the Highland model perfectly replicated this.
Strong as a Highland Clansman
Highland cattle have been adapted by nature to withstand exposure to harsh conditions. These life size Highlander models are constructed of fibreglass and polyester resin, making them extremely robust and durable; ensuring they are suitable for use indoors or outside.
Depth of Field
When measured across the hips, the breadth should be large, and the quarters should be well developed from the hips backwards. The thighs should also be full and well developed.

Bully for You
The fibreglass Highland Cow model only weighs around 70kg, so can easily be carried by a couple of able-bodied people.
Security and Stability
During production, metal spars are moulded under the hooves between the front and back legs; providing extra stability. Holes are bored in the spars; which allows the Highlander statue to be either bolted, screwed or nailed down to a surface for added security.

If however, you require the life size model Highland Cow figure to be mobile; in order to take her out and in your premises – we can supply a trolley or “turfboard” which has four individual wheels underneath – with brakes .
The Highlander can then be bolted down onto the “turfboard” in order to be wheeled around. And to complete the “look” we cover it with the latest artificial turf or Astroturf; thereby transforming the skateboard into a turfboard. completing the image of a Highland Cow at grass.

Others looking for a more permanent position, favour bolting her onto a concrete plinth
If the life size Highland Cow figure is to be placed on a softer surface, such as a grass field, park or beach, metal tent pegs can be hammered into the ground to secure her, and then removed when required.
Both methods provide a great degree of stability and security from extreme elements – climatic and the odd dishonest human!

Customisation
The classic image of a Highland cow today is red; which is the standard colour of our model. However, if a client requires the animal to take on a different appearance , our artist can accurately work to a brief; frequently to tight deadlines.

All of our life-size animal models are made of high quality polyester resin & fibre-glass. And the excellent life-size cattle models are one of our most popular ranges. As dairy farmers with lifelong experience of working with real dairy cattle, we felt qualified to design the life size replica cows; especially as we still have readymade real models running around the fields on the family farm.
Based on ideal cattle, their resemblance is the closest to any real bovine in the world. Please take time to compare our bull and cow models to others ; and you will see quite clearly that they are far superior in terms of size, detail and conformation.

Strength and stability
Our life-size standing model cow comes in two positions; either head-up or grazing with her head down. Through experience with plastic cows over the years; and unlike other inferior cattle models; a feature which we now specify as standard is metal spars moulded between the front and back legs. This provides far greater strength, as well as added security since holes are bored through the spars in order to peg or bolt down the model onto any surface.
There is also a lying-down cow model, and a lying down cow bench, which have metal lugs attached underneath to be used to secure the models onto the ground.
In addition there`s a calf model which is great on its own; or ideal as a companion to other cattle models to make a family cow group. This is one of the favourite animal models which we frequently having to modify for clients.
Customisation
We supply the cow models as standard Friesian or Holstein cattle or simply plain white – so that you can paint your own. However should you wish another breed of cattle or even totally different design, branding or modification; our artist will be only too happy to work to your brief. Various examples can be found in the Gallery. Length of lead times are dependent on the amount of work required; however we are well used to working to deadlines; so please just ask.
Likewise the bull model statues are available to order in black, black and white and brown and white.
Our models can be found not only across the UK; but widespread over all the continents. And the uses of the models is varied. This is perfectly illustrated in the gallery where individual clients mix with zoos, science museums, marketing companies, dairy businesses, cheese companies, charities and children`s farm attractions.

We recommend that all the animal models which are going to be used outdoors be coated with a transparent gloss of UV resistant varnish, but would advise where possible placing the models inside during winter months.
